finding an electric fun cart gear set

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

My 4 year old son has a Dale Earnhardt scale replica electric "fun-cart" that was made by Motorsports Promotions Inc in Tempe, Arizona around 1998. It has a 9 volt integrated motor - gear set. The gear set is several gears in a small plastic case (gear reduction). My problem is that 2 of the gears are chewed up... it no longer drives the cart. Naturally I called Motorsports Promotions to order a new set... they are defunct and no longer exist. I have looked into having the gears milled from metal and the cost is probably worth more than the cart. Does anybody know of anywhere out there that would make some kind of electric motor / gear unit for this kart??? I could make just about anything work, even if it's not 9 volt. HELP!

I just came across two gas powered carts from the same company. I need some parts. Any idea how to find them? Thanks!
