Yikes! Poe won a magazine contest for his story "The Gold Bug". Go to www.eapoe.org for a full manuscript with publishing details. The modern award dedicated to Poe is the "Edgar" a statue of the raven of course. It is given for the best mystery and detective works of the year because Poe oriiginated the modern detective story(four stories including "The Gold Bug").
