According to a Dutch website at http://www.ksgv.nl/2-40.html his dates were 1916-1987. These dates are confirmed at http://www.socsci.kun.nl/psy/cultuurengodsdienst/uden.html

You might ask the person who owns the second site, Rien van Uden (m.vuden@wxs.nl), if he has any further details about the cause of Pruyser's death.

You'll find a short biography that includes place of birth, and birth and death dates, in the Baker Encyclopedia of Psychology and Counseling, 2nd edition (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Books, 1999) Pruser was born 29 May 1916 in Amsterdam and died 9 April 1987 in Topeka, Kansas. The obituary in the Topeka Capital Journal did not give a cause of death, although Pruyser had a history of heart problems. There was a special memorial tribute to him at APA in 1987 that included a paper by Wiliam H. Smith of the Menninger Foundation. I would check the Bulletin of the Menninger Clinic, for which he was the editor, to see if they published this material.

P.S. the obituary was republished in the newsletter of APA Division 36 in the summer 1987 issue, which also announced the memorial session.
