Hi I jsut surfed into this site and was wondering, if ea poe wrote the devil and tom walker, and if so could someone tell me how to obtaina copy of this short story?, I took alot of english in high school,a nd was always fascinated by the works of ea poe, robert frost, shakespear, and henry david tibidoe,a nd of course charles dickens, so if could help me with this short story, i would greatly appreciated.

Also what sit he name of the poem that ea poe worte where this guy is talkinga bout the murder of his wife,a nd how he denies it, and all he hears is what he thinks is her heartbeat and after confesing here it was only his concous? thanks

Save yourself time and Google first. That story is Washington Irving's though Poe wrote a few in a similar vein himself. A popular genre of whimsical devil/man duels of wit and social message. "Never Bet the Devil your Head" "The Devil in the Belfry" etc. etc.

Try www.eapoe.org for all Poe's actual works. The "poem" you think you remeber is an amalgam of several Poe works badly lumped together, possibly the stories "The Tell-Tale Heart"(the heart thing) and "The Black Cat"(wife murdered).
