I am building a lawnmowe-engine-powered go kart. I was wondering is there a way to attach some sort of a transmission, and an acceleration pedal? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can use a steering wheel mounted 'pedal' kinda like a bicyle brake, you pull it, it pulls the throttle. As far as a transmission is concerned, the easiest way would seem to be to just use a lawnmower rearend being everything is all there, just change the pulleys like you would do on a ridin mower to get gear reduction and more speed. Or use a posi traction open axle with a pulley and belts
