i am trying to make a go cart but i dont know how to atach my horizontal engine to the wheels

can you plz help me

ok u cant tip it on its side unless u dont have a 2 stroke so that cause if u have a 4 stroke the oil will lek out but if u mount the engine like a lawn mover u need a verical shaft from a ride one lawnmover

I posted this same answer to another question. But they make and sell go karts for small children that have horizontal engines on them I couldn't see how it was done by my guess would be running a belt face clutch, a belt pulley on a open posi traction rearend(the whole axle turns, not just a shaft inside a tube). That way the belt can run twisted so to speak. Just look at an old yazoo mower. It has a vertical engine on it and the belt looks almost like a figure eight to run the horizontal blade. But it works( I know I have and old Yazoo in my back yard.) Hope this helps some

i got an old roto tiller rear end and used that, its got a clutch reverse, and 3 gears, works like a pro after i changed the pullys

To attach a horizontal engine to its wheels, purchase the following items: 1)From the web site (http://www.psep.biz/store/go_cart_max- torque_clutches.htm) measure and purchase a clutch that matces your drive shaft size. 2)Now purchase a drive chain that will fit the teeth number (10 or 12) of the sprocket that is on your clutch. 3)On your 1" or whatever wheel shaft, you will need a rotery plate sprocket assembally that will fit not only your shaft size, but make sure the sprocket teeth match the chain teeth number (10 or 12). All of the above parts can be found on that website mentioned. As for a engine 9.0HP and greater, you will need to use a torque converter (about $150.00+)

all you need is a sprocket you put the sprocket on the shaft then you need a chain you run the chein to the wheel that has a sprocket on it.

hey get a trans for an old lawnmower take the gear out that spins the 2 gears on both sides weld the rear it to the drive shaft have it profesionaly done then tip the tranny on so that the its side enigin fits horizontaly then well do watcha need 2 do have fun
