Keeping current

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

I had been planning to write a short note about what's keeping me busy and off the net, and to ask you all what your excuse is. However, given what's going on with Lon and Gayla, it may be that it's just a really hard time for several of you! I want you all to know how much you've meant to me over the years... when Carla was so ill with her burst appendix, when my brother died and especially all through the craziness leading up to y2k, your caring has brightened my life.

Right now, my life is stressful, but good stress. Carla had her graduation celebration on Friday. (I'm hoping she'll put some of the pics on the net, and I'll let you know where they are). I'm also planning an 80th birthday celebration for this coming weekend for my mom (it happened while she was in Ghana, but we want to celebrate it too!). There have also been a few job interviews, Mother's day dinners with both moms and the house cleaning and preparation that goes with having guests invited... and don't forget to go to work, or that volunteer thing you said you'd do :-)

Then there's the fact that spring came, winter came back and now summer's knocking at the door - all within the space of 10 days. While not an emotional stress (at least not for me), it is an added physical stress so I fought off a cold as well. I love it when life is interesting!

Tulips bloomed today

Bright smiles reflected upward

Echoed in my heart.

Hi Tricia. Thanks for keeping us all current. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who noticed you were away for a bit, so it's good to know what's been happening.

My assignment recently ended, so I should be around more too... and besides, I think I have a promise to keep to youz guyz ;-)

story!

It sounds like you're one busy girl Tricia. My Mum had her 80th Birthday in March and I hope your Mum is as spritely as mine. I don't know where she gets her energy from. I also seem to have been extra busy lately mostly with work. I'm afraid my housework has been sadly neglected, so I will have to get head down and bum up tomorrow and set it right. Congrats to your daughter, it must be a lovely feeling to graduate after all the study. I truly admire anyone who sticks with a course of study through to the end (pass or fail). Your haiku is lovely and I hope it is rewarded with some beautiful sunshine.

Carol, if your head is down and your bum is up tommorrow down there....

Which direction do I turn to get the best view from here?

Tee hee Robert. Turn in the opposite direction. Trust me it's not a picture you want in your head.

(Slapping Robert for being ornery!) ;-)

Tricia, tell Carla I said congratulations! Crystal got her Associate's Degree in December but did the cap and gown stroll last Friday night as well. We're really proud of her. She will get her Bachelor's Degree next year (at 21) then she's going after her Master's.

Sounds like everyone has a hectic life right now. On top of all the other 'excitement', we get some more. We're moving back to Houston over the 4th of July weekend. BUT we will still be coming back to Tulsa for 8-12 days each month through December. This should be interesting!

One GOOD thing about it is that we won't have to pay the $300 a month Oklahoma State income tax. And we can definitely use the extra money. Crystal's hospital bill was over $25,000. Thankfully we have insurance! Our portion is already over $1,000 and climbing.

The odds of us being able to go to Washington State now are fairly slim. I'm really bummed about that. :-( We had already made plans to go to Butchart Gardens, etc.

Tricia, you mean a lot to me as well. I still smile every time I think about our time together with you guys. :-) It was awesome! Thank you for all of your haikus and posts over the years. BIG ((((((hug)))))) for YOU!
