This isn't really an answer to your question, but it might be an answer to your router problem. Go here http://www.kareno.net/LinkSys/ - it'll help you to open up some ports (although it's for a LinkSys router, it'll be roughly similar). I have ports 1024-1040 and 4980-4999 open. Those should do the trick.
