Art Deco Musical Instruments?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Art Deco Society of Washington : One Thread

Hello,

As experts on the art deco period I wonder if you can help me? I'm trying to determine whether the guitars originally designed by Mario Maccaferri, and introduced in 1932 by the French musical instrument manufacturer Selmer & Co of Paris, France would be described as "art deco"?

Photographs of Selmer Maccaferri D hole guitars may be viewed at the web sites referred to below:

The Selmer Maccaferri guitar was the instrument of choice of Django Reinhardt the innovative Belgian gypsy jazz guitarist of the 1930's and 40's.

Many thanks for your opinions.
