POST SUR. CRUNCHES/ADHESIONS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

HAD LEFT T.K.R. 3 YEARS AGO. LOADS OF TROUBLE, STILL HURTS. I LIVE WITH IT. SECOND TKR ON RIGHT KNEE WAS ONE YEAR AGO. TURNED OUT GREAT BUT FOR FEW MONTHS KNEE HAS 'CRUNCHES' AND ADHESIONS. TALK OF DOING TKR OVER TO CLEAN OUT KNEE. KNEE POPS CONSTANTLY, WALKING, SITTING, LYING DOWN, EACH STEP I TAKE, ALWAYS POPING. AM CONCERNED THIS WILL DAMAGE PROSTHESIS. GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP AND POSSIBLE ANSWER.

THANK YOU. MRS. MCcall (2nd surgeon was so talented and skilled) All this is from a fall of TREADMILL.

Popping and crunching comes from scar tissue. It will not damage the prosthesis. The decision to remove it depends on the severity of your symptoms. I would only remove it for pain, not because it makes a disagreeable noise.

Good luck
