what inspired edgar allan poe to write the short story, cask of amontillado? quick reply please!

In 1846 this story came fast on the heels of a bitter libel suit against the NY Eevening Mirror and an article by Thomas Dunn English with whom he was feuding. he won the suit at cost to his reputation.His alcoholism came out at trial.Literary sources though include Balzac and Joel Headley.
