communion after annulment and remarriage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I was married in a Catholic Church in 1995 and divorced in 1998 after three years of emotional abuse. I remarried a non-Catholic in a non-denominational church in 2000 and my first marriage was annulled two weeks ago. I am a devote Catholic with two children attending Catholic school. I haven't received the sacrament of communion since mu divorce. Now that my first marriage was annulled can I receive the sacrament of communion. My son will be receiving his First Holy Communion soon. I would like to do so with him. Please let me know the views the church has on this matter

You will need to renew your wedding vows in the Church before you can resume the sacrament of communion. Technically, this is known as a "convalidation". Your priest should be able to help you arrange this.

actually, more than just renewing your vows, you should attend confession as well and recieve the sacrament of penence before resuming communion.

Michelle, please do not be disturbed by the message from Jenny.
Mark and "little paul" gave you correct information.

Dear Michelle,

You said your marriage was annulled. Were their two decisions made in favor of nullity? That is the requirement. If you do not have both decisions then hold off on Communion. I am curious. What ground was used to decide nullity in this circumstance? Do not answer this last one if you feel uncomfortable with it. Thank you.

I don't want to answer. It's my private life, you understand.
