In regard to the Dario accident issue. Is an 02 f4 subject to the oil filter coming off, or just the 00 and 01?

Depending on when you bought your 2002, it may still have the old oil filter. Also, depending on when you had your MV service, it may also have the old oil filter.
I had mine serviced in early January and as of that point, the dealer mentioned it had the new oil filter which has a clamp or brace.

My Senna has the newer filter, however it is the clamp on the filter that prevents it from coming off. My 996 and 748 also have a hose clamp attached as to prevent them from backing off. An easy and safe procedure.

I discussed this issue with my MV dealer the other day, he seemed to think the problem was more related to incorrect filters being put on the MV as it is a standard fitting. He basically said a standard filter is designed to run at 8psi whereas an MV runs at 42psi hence, they can fail. My 02 has the later filter fitted btw.

I don't remember reading any published reports attributing the accident to the oil filter. All I ever saw were reports of an "mechanical failure". More likely, if he rides a motorcycle anything like he drives a race car, it was rider error.

The new ones are black and come with a special clamp to keep them from spinning off.
