Can anyone tell me if it is safe to use amonia based copper solvents in my Remington? I have recieved many deffirent comments about this subject in the past. Can anyone who has used it let me know?

sweets is a very good remover of heavy coppper buildup either from lack of proper cleaning on a reg. basis or shooting hot rounds or from just shooting a large # of rounds at one time,matt is right you dont want to leave it in your barrel for a overnighter i usally go about 30 min. and have had no problems,alway clean from the breach end if possible and do not let any cleaner get between you action and or barrel and stock its real hard on the wood and possibly not good on synthetics either,grim

I've used Sweet's 7.62 which is ammonia based for some time in my Rem700, but only if I have a lot of fouling..I wouldn't leave it in for an extended period but have on occasion let it "soak" for about 30 minutes followed by a bit of brushing and patches. It works well for me and I've not had any problems so far..Old fashioned elbow grease and Hoppe's works just as well and smells better, either way you get the same results. Good shootin..
