there is a very useful movie that i have seen in classes at University of Wisconsin- Madison that helped me with the basics of his life and works. it was produced by pbs (so bound to be informative) and is called, "Edgar Allen Poe, a writer ahead of time", your library most likely has it too. hope it helps. good luck on your paper!

That is the "Biography" series video? Paints Poe a bit too dark but it is fairly updated. try www.eapoe.org and its links. A new site at www.knowingpoe/thinkport.org with slowloading interactive stuff that is immensely impressive. Your own library may have books and online subsriptions to article services you may access.
