I also have heard alot of stories about how alexander the great has died, but he died when he went to a fort in India with his army , they couldnt break they doors down, so Alexander climed over using a ladder and tried to take on the whole army inside the fort and he got stabbed.

The virus was identified as an exotic import, familiar to doctors in the Middle East but hitherto unknown in America: West Nile virus. The disease, transmitted initially by mosquitoes to birds and some mammals, was named only in 1937 after an outbreak in Africa, but there is no reason to believe that the virus itself had not been busy in the Nile region for millennia. How does it fit with the circumstances of Alexander's death? You get a high fever, and a complication of that is encephalitis [inflammation of the brain], in which the patient's sensorium dramatically changes. He may not be able to talk, he may not be able to hear. He may have seizures and tics, but essentially he is in a coma. People with encephalitis can linger for a few days, a few weeks or a few months, and then either they get better or they die.

he didn t accept the package that was delivered to his house for moshin rehman knowing him only as mos. The package was subsequently lost and rehman in a fit of alchol/being beaten on evo 4 on xbox live killed him. Seriously though illness, a broken heart, world weeriness, battle wounds, high living, drink all contributed. Poison possibly as after India he was certainly not loved by all.

Instead of spending so much time an energy talking about the death of someone who conquered the world thousands of years ago, try looking at your own life. What are you doing today that matters?

-- Anonymous, January 18, 2005

you know this is a myterious Question in history. I`m also curious about this but some days ago I saw in disovery channel that ALexander the great died of a malaria. But it could also be a poison froom the drinks that he have drunken some days ago, and that caused a serious problems to his brain then he died..... But also he could have died of careless to himself.

Alexander's death has always been a debate among scholars today. There are numerous scenarios that might have lead to his demised. Some say he died of high fever, while others said was poisoned. In my opinion, I'm kind leaning towards that 'murder' thing. Eventhough there is no proof ever found, I think he was murdered by poison or by some other means. Despite the fact that he conquered almost the entire planet, he probably wasn't loved by all of his subjects and one of these subjects perhaps decided to do away with him by killing him in away that it would be overlooked as natural illness. Perhaps one of these subjects is one of his general or most of them. You know kind of a conspiracy to get rid of the King, so they can divide his kingom among themselves. I'm saying that they killed him, but it always a possibility. My other opinion is that Alexander died of a broken heart. What I'm saying is that perhaps in his grief, he killed himself to join Hephaestion in the afterlife. I don't know how accurate the movie is but Farell as Alexander said to Jared as Hephaestion that if he ever die first that he follow him afterwards. So, there's a possibility that he committed suicide and his generals probably covered the whole thing up. So, I hope I didn't insult anyone here with my opinions of what really killed Alexander the Great. It's my intention to. I'm just providing my opinion(s) like everyone else here.

Alexander the Great is dead??

-- Anonymous, December 14, 2004

There are many theories including poisoning by his fellow friends, or even by his wife. Malaria, typhoid fever and west nile are also possibilities. Many symptoms of typhoid fever and malaria are similar but in all cases there are glitches.. Something doesn't work out.. It might be because history is written by those who lived it and not by those with no opinion. many facts can be embelished or changed. Some theories are very bizzare such as 'he died of infection due to a bite of my pet monkey' .We also know he was a big drinker so maybe his death was due to complications of liver problems or maybe all of the 5 theories happened. Maybe he was poisoned which set of problems he had in the start then he caught a fever because of so on and so on.. We don't know right now. the best thing to do is look at the information and make an opinion yourself.

Interesting! I am half Greek and my great-Grandfather was the President of Greece. I think all the above answers (except for the 12yr old idea's answers) is relatively close. This is what i was told and learned. Alexander the Great was a young and ambitious man. Much like young pro-ball players today that thinks they are invincible, can do anything and overcome anything, Alexander's death was almost self-inflicted by self-negligence. There is no doubt that he was strong, however it is easily concluded that Alexander looked at his own injuries and sicknesses as temporary, he believed that he was hurt (like a cold or a bruise) and not injured and that his pain would pass (nothing to worry about). In conclusion when he should have been resting and recuperating but instead he was out partying, battling (like a start pro football quarterback in the third quarter of the super bowl that tapes up the injury because he needs to be on the field and will worry about the injury later) and neglecting other disease illnesses. Ultimately leading him to what i would have to imagine as immune-system failure. It is likely we would have lived a much longer life if he took better care of himself.

Hope this helps

Matt

I don't know how Alexander the Great died...records back then were so sketchy, and they didn't understand most diseases. I also want to say that I think a lot of you people who responded to this child's question should be ashamed. If you want to be disgusting on your own private time, fine. But to be so immature and crass as to put these stupid comments down in a forum is childish and inexcusable.

My cat has this thing stuck in his balls. I'm not too sure what it is. I tried poking it with a poking stick and licked it, but nothing got it off. So finally I went to the vet and said it was herpies. Dont ever let stray cats in ur house with on opened bag of catnip. Pussy orgy!

Alexander the Great died because he became very ill and came down with the fever. I need to know what he contributed to our civilization? For my social studies report too.

-- Anonymous, November 18, 2004

On second thought, he had sustained a fairly severe lung injury at one of his last main battles in India. Apparently one of his lungs had been punctured. Perhaps infection could have set in through that, and also as a result of him overworking himself far too much.

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2004

He died because his wiener exploded into a million pieces.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2004

beaten silly by an old lady with an umbrella.

-- Anonymous, November 06, 2004

No one's entirely sure. Many sources state that after one of his infamous night-long binge-drinking sprees, he became ill, and eventually died. Other sources state that he contracted a disease such as malaria or West Nile virus, which was made worse by his drinking. Yet other sources state that he was poisoned, since he complained of severe stomach pains. It is also possible that internal bruising from old wounds could have contributed to his death.

He died because of a desies. he fell ill after a banquet on june 1st.

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2004

he was taken a crap and got really constipated and just killed over

-- Anonymous, March 15, 2004

I think at one time, he was just driving his Volvo, smoking some weed in the car, and all of a sudden this cow crosses the road. He had to evade, hit a siderail, drove through a chicken's den and drove against this huge pink dildo that was standing in the middle of the wheat crops. Thank God he was such a small dude, so he managed to crawl ou there, but then he got trampled by ebil Protestant bastards. That's how he was killed...according to my history-book.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2003

Greetings, There has been a lot of debate about how ALexander died. The latest theory put out is West Nile Virus. His death has been attributed to poisoning, malaria, brain fever, and other diseases. No one can say for certain what he died of, since the descriptions of his death in the sources vary and do not offer enough information for an accurate analysis. Nevertheless, many people throw out opinions, so the best thing to do is realize we cannot know for certain, and then, if in a school exam, list the several possible causes of death. If your teacher insists there was one specific way, educate him/her as to the fact that no research to date has satisfactorily answered this question.

Regards, Sikander

The arabs killed him on Akkas Walls....

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2003

Brain fever/hemorrage...after an Olympian overindulgence of wine...plus he had malaria, and all sorts of ailments/injuries from an admittedly self-imposed hard life of warfare and general mayhem. He had also received wounds from almost every type of weapon available at the time. Not to mention his possible exposure to radiation from UFOs during the seige of Tyre and in India. Nothing less would be expected from one foretold of by the Prophet Daniel.
