A vast request for a particular subject that you have to choose to suit your own purposes. Anyway, you must read Poe, as much and as wide a variety as possible with biography and critiques. www..eapoe.org is a good start or other links online to Poe Studies etc. I say this because the natural tendency even for someone familiar with Poe is to jump to the wrong idea and hopelessly misunderstand or underappreciate Poe. Poe has a brief, propular opus, but he is a great mind in action. He is not so much hard as unique. One contradiction is often enough to make singular minds lose patience with him and dishonestly write him off. The popular legends and attitudes towards Poe as a "horror" writer and alcoholic are even farther off the point.
