I have been to the Spencer Shops in North Carolina. I live in south Florida. Where else can I go between Florida and Tenneesee to see more SRR shops, museums, big bridges, etc.

Chattanooga, Tennessee is definately worth a stop. Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum operates trains over the old Southern Railway main line between East Chattanooga and Jersey (Grand Junction). That line crosses South Chickamauga Creek and passes through the 1856 Whiteside Tunnel (Missionary Ridge). At East Chattanooga, TVRM operates one of the finest locomotive and car shops in the nation. Other Southern Railway sites worth seeing include the Tennessee River Bridge.

Atlanta has SR's South Shops, but they are not open to public. The Southeastern Railway Museum is northeast of Atlanta, just off I- 85, at Duluth, GA. It is open on weekends with brief train rides, displays including the Pullman which took President Harding to West Coast & brough his body back to Washington. There is a website. Museum is right beside the NS Washington-Atlanta main line.
