LenzProgramming track wiring

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

I would like to wire my programming track at the end of a siding and use a double pole double throw switch to switch between normal and programme running with the track isolated from the layout using insulated fishplates. I tried this and it fails to work anyone any ideas.

Thanks John

Does the track section work when connected directly to the Lenz unit's normal operation or the programming operation terminals? If so, and assuming that the switch is wired properly with the leads to the track comming off the center contacts, it sounds like you have a bad connection or bad DPDT switch. Test both sets of the switches contacts with a meter or with the buzzer that Alan describes on his wonderful Wiring for DCC pages to make sure current is passing normally through the switch in all throw positions.
