Happy Easter!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

We Catholic types have already done our churching, so now the rest of the choco-holiday looms before us with ominously sweet breath.

The boy very much wanted to go. I believe I have found the root of his devotion to the Mother Church of Rome.

They hand him a candle and let him hold fire. Flame. Forbidden energy. Mother's nightmare.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the boy is a pyro. And he's got the right religion to express it.

Answers

No purple fingers, no tiny shoes to tie No candy bunnies, with one candy eye.

No chocolate eggs melting in the sun No squeals of treasure-hunting fun.

No yard dogs grinning with yolk stained teeth, No plastic grass, or marshmallow peeps

Kids all grown and moved away, No Easter morning, just Easter day.

(((Lon)))

This is the year that the Easter Bunny died. Every other year (including after my children were well aware just who the Easter Bunny was), the "Easter Bunny" had to hide the chocolates so that there could be an easter egg hunt. This year, last night in fact, my younger (almost 14 year old) daughter said, "I don't suppose the Easter Bunny is coming tonight, is he?" And cold-hearted monster that I am, I replied,"No, he's dead". My daughter wailed, "Nooooooo. You've killed my lifelong dreams!!" So I said, "What, to be the Easter Bunny?" "Yes!" She agreed. "I didn't kill your dreams - I just created a job opening." "Ewww, Mom!!!"

Today was an extended family day. I cooked a turkey and a ham and carried them over to my sister's house where all 30 or so of us gathered for food, fellowship and family fun. We just got home, and my head is buzzing with baby cries, children's laughter and adult conversation. I think I need some down-time. Over and out.

It was an odd day for me as well. Most of it was spent driving from Houston back to Tulsa. But we DID stop and see the most magnificent Azalea Festival in Muskogee, OK. Wow! 30,000 azalea plants! There were tulips coming up everywhere and the weather was SO pretty.

It was also our 24th anniversary. Easter has never fallen on our anniversary before. It was LATE this year.

And YES, I still gave my 20-year-old daughter and 23-year-old son candy. I did NOT color eggs, however. LOL!

I also spent the afternoon with an extended family. Four generations, ages 78-3 years. Much good fun. Nimbleness required as we advanced and retreated from rain to sun and back again.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaacck!

You killed the Easter bunny!

(No wonder Jean didn't color any eggs this year.....)

'Course, last year the squirrels stole several of those we did hide.

Here's wishing all FRLians a safe and happy 'Oh Four' Easter.

Dear Grandmother Michels is a bit under the weather the last few days and won't be joining in the family feast.

But Marie's flowers are poppin up and she's real happy about that.

And the Easter Bunny is NOT dead. He's just been hangin out in an undisclosed location (I should know :-)

Well, hope everyone has a great Easter!

Pictures? Grandkids? Sure, who can resist, Roberto.

Speaking of pictures, Gayla, where DO you get those animated chocofaces?

-- J (jsnider@hal-pc.org), April 12, 2004.

I hope your Grandmother is soon better Rob. I can understand how Marie feels, there's nothing like a Spring garden to lift the spirits. I'm glad about the Easter Bunny, over here they are trying to replace him with the Easter Bilby, but it's not working.

That's so cute Gayla. I hope your family had a happy Easter together.

I'm glad you had a nice Easter Robert & Jean and hope all the FRLians did too.

J; Gayla has a way with getting cool images. To see where they're sourced from, just mouse-over the image and right-click, then pick 'properties'.

Carol; Thanks for the well wishes. She is getting better, but s l o w l y. I'll see her (very briefly) tomorrow, before going back to finish my assignment. BTW, what is an Easter Bilby?!?!?
