Clouds

Remember when we were kids and would lay on the ground and look at the clouds? Remember how many things we could make out of the cloud formations?

I was watching the sky today and got to thinking about my younger days so I started looking at the clouds. Know what? They just looked like clouds! I wasn't laying on the ground, think that made the difference?

Kirk, I thought the eye floaters would go away when I stopped drinking but they didn't! Objects did stop wavering though.

During Winter snow storms, I've spent a lot of time on my back since we have some really slick clay soil that's like ice when it gets wet. However, at those times when I'm on my back, I usually see stars. And it doesn't even have to be dark.

Wildman, (just lying around)

Where I live, the clouds most often resemble a low ceiling of gray mush. In order to see things in the clouds, folks apparently eat 'shrooms, which grow well in this type of overcast climate. Guess things are supposed to balance out (sky/earth)! Me, I just don't look up anymore. No highs, no lows...

Wildman, it helps to lie on the ground. But it's not essential. Last year, autumn I think, Julie and I saw a cloud dragon at sunset -- and of course the sunset turned it gold, and peach, and red, all against a deep blue and purple background. It was FABULOUS!

Jack, you need to get you a hammock; and not one of those that ties between two trees, either - you need something that you can look at least remotely dignified getting out of! I still occasionally flop down on my back in the yard to cloud watch, but I'm a little pickier these days about cold and damp and grass clippings and bugs and things like that; plus I have to make sure that no one is around (or likely to come around - let's see, mail comes at 11:30...) to see me get back up. It just ain't pretty! I don't see much in the clouds anymore, but then, I haven't been looking for shapes - maybe I'll have to start doing that again. Mostly, I just watch them go by; and enjoy the fact that I'm not doing anything productive!

Sheepish dear, if you'll e-mail me your snail mail addy, I'll send you a bar of this wonderful lilac soap that I picked up at the Plant Festival - I had gotten some at the Small Farm show last November and it kept me (moderately!) sane all winter. I don't know what lilac is supposed to do for you, but it relaxes and refreshes me. Not a high, exactly, but it sure do lift up the lows!
