Poe had one wife--his cousin. If I recall correctly her name was Virginia. She was a good deal younger than him, and she died of consumption (Tuberculosis) when she was in her twenties. Many of his more tragic love poems seem to be rooted in his loss of her--a foremost example of this being "Annabell Lee"
