Answers

I am puzzled that someone who can take the time to type all that can't get the answers from a careful reading of the text(online at www.eapoe.org). For the Maelstrom questions you can even skim the text and find the answers needed. E-mail me if there really is some problem. I have seen much crueler and vague teacher questions than these fact checkers.

For extra credit the actual, not so dramatic Maelstrom whirlpool is detailed at the Norwegian website for those islands. Poe revisits this general area in the very last unfinished story he wrote called "The Lighthouse".
