Pullets begin laying between 5 and 6 months of age, depending on breed.

Here are some basics: murraymcmurray

Usually 20 to 22 weeks in most breeds .

Egyptian Faveroles lay at 4-1/2 months but they are an exception. They lay some pretty tiny eggs and have a purple tint to their meat.

Along with non-medicated chick starter, I usually put a head of cabbage in the cage when the chicks are about a week old. This keeps them from getting pasted vents or constipated. It gives them something to peck on and can prevent cannabalism. And seems to help keep them in good health.

They need a heat lamp where there is a temperture high of about 95 degress in one part of their cage and a low of 70 degrees so they can move away from the heat source if they get too warm.

They always need clean water ( ALWAYS ) to prevent disease and to keep them growing fast and healthy. I never use medicines or anti- biotics when raising chicks .

They shouldn't get wet or their cage shouldn't have a bad oder . Try to change the litter often so there is never a bad smell. This should keep them healthy.
