VCD audio wont play on dvd player but will on pc? : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have burned my own VCD's from avi's. most of them work fine but some with some alternate audio formats do not play the sound in my dvd player. I have installed all codecs but i doubt thats the problem. any suggestions to help my VCD's?

VCD has very strict requirements about audio. You must use MPEG-2 audio (also called MPEG-1 layer II audio) at a constant 224 Kbps. If you have done anything else, that's probably why it's not working. Stick to the standards and you'll be OK. Go to for help on conversion, VCD format requirements, etc.

I have found this to be a problum on my DVD player that is about 2+ years old. The solution is to use the 650mb (74min) CD's. Only the newer machines can read the larger format disks.
