It is a nocturnal stroll through a type of cemetery landscape where some fate has led him to the tomb of his dead love right on the anniversary of her late autmn death. On that stroll the man's inner dialogue is cast between himself and Psyche his soul. How he describes the state of each and their interaction as they move down the path and the nature imagery expressing such cxan ceretainly be felt without knowing ALL of the obscure references(Auber, Weir- artists, the south pole volcano, the moon, the tall grove, etc) and the music as it reads can speak for the mood almost exclusively. Like "The Raven" the rending pain of his loss creeps up on him somethat unknowingly, though unlike "The Raven" he is in UNCONSOLED mourning and suddenly finds himself somehow at that fated spot as his dialogue emotions crescendo then sink farther down.
