Arrival of Canon S50

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photography Singapore : One Thread

Hi all,

Anybody knows when the S50 will arrive in Singapore? Some shops in Peninsula already discontinued S45 coz they're expecting S50 soon. One of them told me should be here 'end of the month' and the price should not vary that much but I'm not sure about that. If its less than S$150 diff think I'll go for S50. Any one knows anything?

Yah, apparently according to Canon's website, it is $150 more expensive than S45. But I wouldn't be sure what price they would be selling at considering it's a new product, and that the difference would also be $150. The last time when I eyed upon S45 a shop gave me an initial quote of $750 (excluding the gst, and all the other funny stuffs he'd make you buy or claim that did not come with the original package when usually it should).

Hello, I've just gotten the S50 1 week ago. Got it from MSColor whom quoted $910 (before gst). Most places selling about $950 so i guess its around there. Anyways, its about $100 difference from S45 and I'm happy with my buy :)

Can check out some of the pix at www.pbase.com/jonaslim and give me some comments thanks!

nice pets.

the depth of field seems very good for a digital camera, especially seen in the ostrich photo where the leaves closer to the camera seems sharper than the bird itself. haha ... what did they include in the $910 deal?

Heh thanks .. those were the 1st pictures taken with the S50. Get and e-quotation from www.mscolor.com.sg, DEFINITELY will be cheaper than go down or call or say 'fren recommend' or something :)

Thanks! By the way how is the lifespan of the battery? How long did it last you before it died out ...
