all-in-wonder pro doesnt support PAL input?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I tried to capture PAL vhs video to vcd, but in ATI MMC72 program it only let you select NTSC, NTSC-J, and PAL-M.

Any software can solve this problem and let me have more video input standard, or it is video card related (bought in Canada)? What i want to have is PAL-K input.

Thanks,

ATI cards sold in North America don't do PAL at all as far as I know. I've never tried this, but you could hook up your VCR and see if the PAL-M setting works, but I suspect it will not. Some cards, like various Dazzle models, record NTSC and PAL, but they record exactly what they get as input. That is, PAL input = PAL output, you can't do PAL input and get NTSC output. For VCD, the various flavors of PAL are kind of irrelevant. Don't be hung up on PAL-M and PAL-K. If you can record PAL-M, it should work OK as VCD. Another option you might have is to record in AVI format with your ATI card and convert that to PAL VCD using something like TMPGenc.
