Okay, I finally tested Kazaa for myself and I don't like it.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Fed up with all the instanteous "Use Kazaa" replies on this board, I finally downloaded Kazaalite and tried it out today. On the plus side it's pretty find files on Kazaa and even easier to download set them up for download, which is good for newbies, I suppose. But that's about all the good stuff I can say for it because it's just too sloooooowwww! 6 hours to download one measly episode when I average 20 mins per ep on IRC? And I KNOW I have a fast connection so it's definitely not my fault. The only thing Kazaa seems to be good for is small video clips and mp3s. I understand those who want to use Kazaa because, face it, IRC is really tough to get the hang of, especially if you don't have a DOS background, but for impatient people like me, I think we should stick with what works best. Feel free to disagree!

Controller, i agree with you completely. The download speeds are horrible...and not only that but most of the time by the time u try to download a file the user logs off and you get the "more sources needed" thing...I use Dirrect Connect ++, which is a lot better then kazaa, even if it's harder to use. How do you use IRC though? I tried to go to some of the links you constantly post here ( :) ) and none of them seem to work...and isnt IRC a huge chat thing server host??? I'd be really greatful if you could answer my questions.

Yeah, irc is pretty hard to use but the reason I haven't tried Direct Connect is that I don't like the idea of being forced to share 5GB of anime and over when all I might want to download is one gig. Here's a site you might find useful to help you figure out irc: http://odin.prohosting.com/gtjason/information/irc2.htm

Okay, I've tried Kazaa, WinMX, Direct Connect, heck I've even waited in queue lines for 3 days to use IRC fserves. Then I tried eDonkey (www.sharereactor.com). TRY IT. IT RULES!!!

What about Bittorrent, is it any good?

Bittorent is ok, the download speeds are fast, but you have to go manually search for the files you want. The best Bittorent anime cite (tell you where to dld anime via BT) is www.animesuki.com

Okay I'll try it in a little bit. I wonder why I'm bothering anyway, since I lke manga about 10 times more than anime and I'm getting all I need from Irc. I just tried Edonkey but it's not faster than a good fserve from irc and it's not that much easier to use. So once again I uninstalled it from my hard drive. Of course spotting a good fserve on irc takes experience but I've certainly got lots of that.

Booo! Hisss!! I tried Bittorrent just now. 5 hours per download is atrocious. Only things left to try now are imesh, dc and winmx but I don't feel like it just yet. Think I'll stick to good old IRC. It's never done me wrong to date.

yes bittorrent might take 3 or 4 hours of download but there is no F**** queue, you click on it you start downloading, the 3 or 4 hours don't compare to the half day you mightbe in queue or even more

the thing is that BT is good for realeases , irc an other are good for old Ep.

I find that IRC is good for EVERYTHING, not just anime but old cartoons and TV shows, etc. Piracy rocks ^_^

Tried edonkey. Couldn't get it to work on my system. Got emule instead. Works much better that Kazaa or imesh. Found what I was looking for second shot. I'd been trying to find that file for months on imesh/kazaa. Don't know if you'll all like it/ It's slow. But patience is a virtue
