How did edgar's view of death affect his writing
-- Anonymous, February 24, 2003
His position beside the tomb "Annabel Lee" seems to sum his fixation, not that he wouldn't prefer being somewhere else. Unable to recover or escape the past, unable to pierce the veil or find comfort in faith. Yet this is the very wellspring of his poetry and much of his writings, a point of betweenenss and excited frustration, horror, misery, exultation and hope where he can reach out to everything he cannot touch and the loneliness in his soul.
