Did John Allan's attitude towards Edgar push him into the army?

No, Edgar went into the armey to escape his home life and to make something of himself. His adopted father didnt want him to go into the armey, but Poe felt he had no other choice. Going was the best thing for him, it inspired some of his works in the end.
