can we compress mpegav files even more?

i have one movie file (mpegav file like av1.dat) 553mb can i compress this even more?

Yes.....But you run the risk of loosing audio sync and quality. If its just to save hard drive space, use win zip on it. You will only manage to save around 20 to 60 meg (depending on current compresion) bet every little helps

Well, you can re-encode it to a lower bit rate, but that will make it invalid for VCD and make the quality worse. You probably will be able to play it and most likely you will not have audio sync problems, but I think you will not be happy with the final result. If you really care a lot about squeezing as much video as possible into a CD-R, you need to switch to DivX from VCD.
