Does anyone have any info of the 7mm laredo winchester being used for sniping?? I have read an article that the US Secret Service used specially modified 7 mag rifles for presidental support operations??

thanks

i believe that you all are mistaken. i am quite sure that most, if not all, military sniper operations are in fact done with a .308 not a 7mm mag.

The USSS does indeed use 7mm. I have shot one. McMillan stocked, Leupold Tac and also one heck of a nightvision scope. QD rings.

My info is from a web sniper page, I can't verify the cal. but the rifle is very strait. The BOSS system is solid. If I don't hit the same spot twice it's because I moved at the break.

Joe, I have a 4th edition Sierra reloading manual which states in the remarks section for the 7mmRem mag cartridge that "as of this writing, the U.S.Secret Service countersniper teams are armed with custom built 7mm Remington Magnums. I own a Laredo in this cartridge with Boss attached. I am very happy with it's accuracy. Hope this helps.

mr. black, I hear that the u.s.s.s. uses the .300WM. I have a M70 in that cal. w/boss and would think it would be a fine choice. Once tuned "key-holes" are not uncommon.
