Please give me strength! Help my unbelief!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

We are living during a turbulent time in history! You must have the faith to deal with these uncertain and negative moments. I have noticed that there are persons new to the "way" visiting the discussion. Let us pause for a moment from the rhetoric, and give some words of hope and encouragement. Whether you be for or against the administration's foreign policy position, democrat or republican (QED), it is time to remember what we are to be about here in the vineyard! What passage of scripture gives you strength during these moments of uncertainty? Here is my passage of strength: "...Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" He (Jesus)got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He (Jesus) said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" (Mark 4:38-40 NIV) What a Mighty God we serve!

I draw strength from two passages of Scripture:

1. Joshua 1:7 - "Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them." (NIV) 2. Isaiah 41:13 - "For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." (NIV) QED

My Dear Brother Psalm 118 is where I get mine. While I am not directly involved with this conflict (since I am outside of the U.S) I pray these may help. Vs. 18 says I shall not die but live and declare the works of the lord.

Vs.24 says This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

May the great God of Peace, the Peace that passeth all understanding guide you all in your work, your witness, your families (whether you must go to the front line or not)and you service to God.

Blessings to you all in this most difficult time.

I draw strength and resolve from the entire 8th chapter of Romans and in particular vs. 31 "What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us"?

My faith cometh from reading I Corinthians 14:33..."For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace..."

Everything happens for a reason and we must wait on the Lord. Get right with God!
