Multiple VCD movies on one DVD disc; Playable on VCD Player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi, I have 3 VCD movies..I am just wondering if I can write them onto a DVD-R so that I can fit all of them on one DVD Disc and run them on a VCD Player (Not a DVD Player)....? I don't have a DVD-Rewritable drive, I only have a CD Rewritable drive on my computer...Can anyone tell me if I can do this and if Yes, how...?

Thanks in advance...

Hari

its impossible, a DVD requires a different laser than a VCD PLAYER (audio mp3 cdg so forth) player has)

it is possible to do it but you need at least a dvd rom, to do it

Hi, thnaks for the responses. My computer DOES have the DVD-ROM drive. I watched a DVD movie too lately...If it is possible, how can I do it with a DVD ROM drive...?

First of all, you would need a DVD rewriteable drive. Since you don't have one, you can't do this. I don't have one either so I've never tested this, but in theory it might be possible to burn VCD format to a DVD-R disc. However, your player might not recognize the disc. You would have to make one to see if it recognizes it or not (I doubt it will), which gets you back to your first problem.

Actually, you CAN BURN a vcd and watch them on a DVD player. I do it all the time. Just download nero burning software and choose "other" when it asks you the format you want to burn with. Then choose video cd. Then you only need to make sure that your dvd player plays vcd's. Which mine does. You can find a vcd/dvd/mp3 player at walmart for 88 bucks. People need to get a clue before they start posting information that isn't correct. I haven o dvd burner, i have a simple rewriteable cd burner. Nero software. and a dvd player that plays vcd's. Thats all you need.
