No DMA drive? skip free video?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I searched for ways to get around the no DMA problem that old harddrives have and found one way of helping that issue. I'm sure others wouldn't mind this tip. when using Windows XP simply uncheck "enable write catching on disk" under: Systemproperies\hardware\Device Manager\harddrive-properties. Windows 2000 and XP enable by default. Win98 doesn't. A good processor and good ammount of ram helps too. And always defrag. Daniel
