www.eapoe.org "Lines on Ale" one of the few surviving samples of Poe's famous barroom poetry. Really no serious poetry on the subject. His one account of the DT's was never fictionalized.(his mother in law dismembered, a silver lady floating outside his cell window).

Other poets much more so. For example Charles Baudelaire, Poe's French disciple in part, did poems on wine, a treatise "Les Paradis Artificiels". "Alcools". Pretty much confirms Stephen King's own analysis of art related to his own drinking and drug period. It guterrizes the subject matter, destroys talent and decceives. Or plain old nothing. The crashing illusions of opium left Baudelaire with difficulty in real dreaming from which better inspiration normally came. Poe experienced wild excitement and inclination to self destructive behavior. Poe's actor father never cured horrific stage fright with the bottle which dragged him down and eventually killed him.
