86' AutoBox

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

Hey everyone. I was told that the SCL had about 5 86' Autoparts boxcars and would like to make a model of them. If anyone knows anything about them please email me what you know. Pictures would be a BIG help! =D Thanks in advance! Jason

PS-If anyone has pictures of the shorter ACL autoparts boxcars and would like to send them, please do. These will just be for my modeling use and I will not share the photos. Thanks!

The 1980 SCL roster shows 7 cars in class X-9, series 99000-99006, that were 86 feet 6 inches long inside. The first 4 were built in 1970 by Greenville Steel Car Co. and had 2 10-foot doors. The second 3 were similar and were built in 1977. Don't have any photos, would like to get prints from anyone who does.
