When we open a Mpeg or Dat file with Virtualdub, the file will be uncompressed. After edited and it will only save as AVI format. But, the problem is, the AVI file is extremely large. Is there any software available to perform MPEG or DAT file editing, also after edited will be saved as compressed format.

http://www.womble.com has 2 products that can edit MPEG video. MPEGVCR is about $50 and only edits MPEG-1. It can be downloaded as a demo. MPEG2VCR is about $250 and edits MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video. There are other MPEG-1 editors, but I don't remember the names. Perhaps a web search would find them.
