Pilz Elite "curveable" turnouts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

Allan: For some reason my ISP will not let me just respond to you. In response to your response to me: So I could create a 24" and 20" curved turnout from the straight one by Pilz elite? Peco also makes a curved turnout in code 75 which would be great and Peco track is an option but the outer radius of 60" is way too much. I don't suppose Peco track turnouts are "curveable" as well?

Hmmm, I don't know why your ISP won't let you respond to me directly. That's okay, the questions generally should stay on the forum for all to gain the benefit of the answer.

I don't know that the Peco's are curvable. I don't have any loose ones. I don't know any other manufacturer's that are. I wouldn't have known the Tilligs were either if the importer hadn't told me. Who would have guessed!

Tillig also sells a kit where you slide all the rails in. It is so flexible, the ties come as a wye - yet you can make a right or a left hand turnout from it!

I can't say with certainty if you can create a 24/20 radius. Check with the importer. He may know. I'd have to actually draw out those arcs and try laying a turnout onto those arcs. I THINK you may be able to go that tight. Note: The larger turnouts bend more than the smaller ones.

If you find out from the importer the answer to your question, please post back to this forum so we all know! Thank you!

Allan
