INFO ON - 1933 TEN VOLUME SET

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I have a 10 volume set of THE WORKS OF EDGAR ALLAN POE, circa. 1933, by the Standard Book Company. They are BLUE with GOLD on the spine. I have been looking for about two weeks for any info I can find (Value, How many were printed, Etc.) Most of the books are between FINE and VG. I have seen a few sets mentioned from 1933, but they all were RED. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance Shawn Sampson

A very common reprint of Poe's Tales, Poems, and a few Essays only, just to compete with other more exhaustive ones, also in 10 volumes, the last having been the Harper & Bros one, regularly reprinted between 1914 and 1929 (1850-56 Griswold texts). You can find your set rather often proposed on "ebay", in blue cloth the most frequently. Yours sincerely, Raven's Shade (Belgium).
