The musical Snoopy has references to Edgar Allan Poe that I can't track down.

The Musical "Snoopy" has a song entitled 'Edgar Allan Poe. It makes a numer of references to Poe that I don't understand and can't connect back to Poe such as; Cock Robin, Darling Clementine, Hiawatha, Road to Mandalay, Black Sambo, Columbia the Gem, Sweet Adeline and invented onomatopoeia. Any insights?

None of those seem directly tied to Poe, especially Hiawatha written by Longfellow after Poe's death. Onomatopoeia is a device frequently used to highly original effect by Poe. I need to see the whole lyric I suppose.

That is because the references have nothing at all to do with Edgar Allan Poe. Everything that Charlie Brown sings in the song is incorrect, whilst Linus lists all the correct facts about Poe. The deadgiveaway to this is when Charlie lists Dicken's Christmas Carol as one of Poe's works.

YEs, Charlie Brown is gving completely wring answers. whereas, Linus is correcting all of the with the real information.
