Question about Avi Files!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

When I place an AVI file in TMPGEnc 2.5 it tells me that it is 4 or 5 hours long. Is this normal? IE: a 700 MB AVI file will increase to maybe up to double in size but these 2 AVI files I have at present seem too long. Any answers?

Couldn't it be you have a DIVX file on your hands? They are well packed and are in AVI format. The format is compressed so 700MB in DIVX-AVI can be much much longer in playback time as VCD 700MB is (= about 1 hour of MPEG-1 video).

If you want to check, you can only playback these files with a DIVX compatible player, not with Mediaplayer from Windows.
