I am moving to Europe this summer and we have ~ 30 VHS (US) tapes we would like to copy into VCD (PAL) format. Any suggestions on the software and hardware needed to do the conversion? Thanks in advance.

try using windows movie maker 2 if you have windows xp then encode it with tmpgenc. I just started using it for my home videos it works real good

thats a pretty vague answer, uhm, what hardware is needed. I think theres WinTv, and external USB adapter Also USB-LIVE

and then you'll need a capture program like WinVCR/cineplayer Then just load the template for PAL on Tmpgenc
