Editing DVD/VCDs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello. Previously I had to figure out how to convert VCDs into DVDs on the iMac. I have succeeded and you can feel free to email me for a "how to" if needed. However, my original idea was to combine a 3 VCD movie, edit the 3 discs together, and convert into DVD. iDVD and iMovie seem to only work with a digitial video stream, not with VCDs or DVDs. So, I guess I need to convert VCDs into a DV stream, then edit and create. How?

I can't help you with Mac related issues so you may have to end up going to a Mac forum eventually. VCD video is valid as is for VCD. The audio is not valid and must be converted to 48 KHz from 44 KHz. http://www.vcdhelp.com has a guide on converting VCD to DVD. Unforunately for you, all the guides and tools only run on PCs. You might be able to read the guides and figure out what to do on a Mac in terms of the general priciniples, but I have no idea what tools you will have to use on a Mac nor if such tools even exist. For example, I'm pretty sure you can find a video editor for Mac to combine the video streams together, but I have no idea if anything exists to convert audio from 44 KHz to 48.
