Seinfeld VCD's

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have every episode of Seinfeld on 61 VCD's. My question is why is it illegal to sell my set. I don't want to make a profit and I didn't make them myself, I just don't want them anymore? Thanks, Scott

As far as I know, Seinfeld was never officially released on VCD. That means it's illegal to sell it because you don't own the rights to it, nor did you purchase a legal VCD set. If I'm wrong and Seinfeld was legally released on VCD then you should be able to resell it. Hollywood tried to claim that DVDs can't be resold, but I think they've lost every court case about it. Bottom line - if what you have isn't legit, you don't have the legal right to re-sell it.

I saw a set on www.sell.com that was from Castle Rock. Castle Rock made sets so they should be legal. If they were copied off of tv then they would definately be illegal but the sets being sold at www.sell.com were from castle rock. Maybe I get a set and check it out. I do know that at the end of the last episode that Castle Rock made sets to give out to everyone. They are very rare but I have seen them around usually once a full moon.

Seinfeld just finished wrapping up the dvd collection this past week so you will be able to top copy the vcd with no problem. And anything copied from the tv to yourself for personal is not illegal.
