greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

I am a third year student in the North Carolina Conference Board of Examiners, I soppose to have recieved my ordination last year but due to my age I was held back. I am also a senior at Clinton High School graduating in May 2003. I have served my home church, and the Church I was transfered too. I am going to Allen University in Columbia South Carolina and I will be needing some financial help. Can someone inform me of those monies this church has.

You should talk to your Bishop. Tell him your situation. I'm sure he knows about you. But sit dwon and talk to him even ask the school. Allen is an A.M.E school so there might be scholarships for A.M.E clergy. We are some what alike. I came into ministry at age 15 i was a sophmore. i started in the class of admissions Bishop Ming's last year as Bishop of the Sixth I went to class every saturday and did all the work. When I went before the Bishop, he informed me that I was not going to be admited to the conference.I came back the next year class of admissions under a new Bishop with the same result. the last annual conference the class that was ordained was the class I started with. What i am saying is just hold on. The Lord has blessed me tremendously me allowing me to preach all over. At least 3 times a month. It took me 3 years to understand what Bishop Ming told me he said "Gold never rust" it only gets better when its placed through the fire. the more fire the more purer it becomes. Doc you can preach that. So if you are gold you will be dynamic when its time to come out the fire and shine. Be encouraged. But talk to Bishop Anderson and even your pastor. Call the school.

Please continue to be encouraged young man. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew thier strength". "All things work together for the good of them that love the Lord". The disappointment at the Annual Conference that you had to go through was not a set back but rather IT WAS A SET UP. God is setting you up for a Major Blessing. Be Strong and May God Keep You.

Sincerely

Rev Cliff Dotson

Brother Davis!

Here in Sunny Calfornia, Pastor Ozell Brazil holds a college prep program which helps our youths identify scholarship monies. You would be surprised at the number and amount of money available to you.

Another source is http://www.scholarships.com .

Here is his number at his church (818) 792-6422. If 818 doesnt work, try 626.....

Now for some advice from a "graybeard": You have declared war against Satan by answering the call. Stay strong. Stay focused. Let God lead, and see what happens. Do not let anyone or anything (including yourself) pull you away from your goal. Satan will use whatever is at his disposal against you. Know that your brothers and sisters are behind you and beside you in the fight. You are not alone.....

For the other pastors out there: Please call Rev. Brazil to see how he can help you start a similar outreach/ministry in your area. Quoting the UNCF motto "The mind is a terrible thing to waste." We need more saints like Brother Davis, amen?
