I have a Remington 700 Special in 308. It has a 5R stainless barrel on it and a H-S stock. I put a Leupold Mark 4, M3 3.5-10X40mm on it and it shoots 1/2" groups at 100 yards, and I've shot 1" to 2" at 300 yards. Which is well under moa for the yardage.

I just had the rifle teflon coated olive drab, and I'm going to restock it in the near future with a M24 H-S stock. The old stock is'nt adjustable. All together I have about $2,300.00 into it. It's a real nice rifle for the money.

Check out www.accuracyinternational.com's AW sniper system. One of the best rifles money can buy, next to their 14k one.

If you do not intend to lug it around (carry in the field) check out the Remington 40X series. Not too pricey and fair shooters right out of the box.

If you want the best go with Iron Brigade Armory. Im a Marine Sniper and have been around to shoot all the toys over the years. Any cheap so called "sniper rifle" can shoot sub MOA groups at 100yds, a few can hold 1/4 or 1/8 MOA at 600-800 yds...but only one company (IBA) builds a rifle that can take a "Marine beating" and still put a bullet in a bullet hole. Stay FAR AWAY from Texas Brigade Armory, they build rifles that will shoot ok, but have a gunsmith that knows his shit look at it and he will tell you that your 3,000 TBA rifle is all jacked up. I should know, I bought one 3 years ago and sent it to IBA to get restocked...well they juked the reciver because TBA couldn't even cut the clib slot in the center!, save your time and money and go with IBA. If your not going to beat your rifle or use it as a sniper rifle anything else out there will do.

it doesn't matter how much you spend on a rifle if you don't have the fundimentals of shooting down to get the most out of that over priced rifle you just bought! i have seen guys take an off the shelf rifle and out shoot a guy with a $5000.00 rifle who didn't know anything about shooting. so hopefully you already know tha basics to shooting.

Without regard to price?

I like my new Remington! Custom built by R. Freudenberg of Everett, WA on McMillan A4 stock with Lilga 3 groove barrel and Jewel 1# Target trigger.
