I am a retired Santa Clara firefighter and now full time artist. I would like to know if there is anyone out there that could give me information on a fire engine sold to Santa Clara in 1854-55. This is needed for a painting I've been commissioned to paint and I'm trying to get it right. It was called Columbia Engine Company 1. I'm think it may have been a hand pumper but may even be a steam pumper. Santa Clara has no record as to what type it was. This pumper went to the first organized Volunteer Fire Company named Columbia Engine 1.
