helpppppppp. free vcd recording software

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Plz. give me free vcd recording software link/url or mail me. Plz. don't suggest demo or trial version available on the net. The software should be able to make menu and chapter and image cd which can run on the vcd player. Nero is on of them but it is available as trial version of 30 days. Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum! from roxio is so costly!! I'll be very-very thank-ful of the helper.

I've just completed a Video CD with Interactive Menus and controlled navigation using Philips Video CD Toolkit. You can find the link on www.vcdhelp.com. It's legacy software, and is no longer sold or supported (its freeware), but the documentation does a pretty good job of introducing you to the program, and there are a number of web resources to get you started. I have found this program to be an excellent introduction to interactive video presentation, and the learning curve you can gain from it is a step in the right direction of making full-fledged interactive DVDs, and it supports all aspects of Video CD 2.0. I used Adobe Photoshop 7 for the screen and menu designs, and I am very pleased with the results. The only thing is, the program absolutely requires that your mpegs are 100% compliant with the Video CD 2.0 White Book Standard, which if you ask me is a good thing, as it ensures that your finished product will be playable on most all VCD players, or DVD players that support VCD. However, this means that you will need to get your hands on a good encoder. Email me if you want specific instructions on how to make your mpegs White Book 2.0 compliant so that VCD Toolkit can work with them.

another good free program for VCD creation is VCD Easy. You can download it at www.vcdeasy.org. I haven't had much experience in VCD creation and I was able to make a VCD fairly easily with this program. It has menu support, although it's a little tough to figure out. It supports VCD 1.0 and 2.0 and SVCD 1.0. Also, if your burner is compatible, you can burn the disk directly from the program.
